Shadows of Life, Passing.
Existence is an inexplicable phenomenon. A mystery.
Science and Philosophy can not explain Existence & Extinction, and no evidence has been
provided for the absolutism of belief systems, religious or atheistic.
There are no certainties..so an innate neuroses, a fear for survival, exists within Homo sapiens.
The psychological images of giant infants, are metaphorical portrayals of the internalised,
subjective, world of human existence; a series of meditative works on the mystery within life
and death.
The greatest influences on TomasColeman's work are the figurative painters Valezquez,
Rembrandt, Picasso, Francis Bacon, Jenny Saville; the colourscape abstractions of Turner and
Peter Doig.
In addition to the series of 'baby' paintings there are some other works, figurative
and abstract, also included on this site to indicate some of the artists eclectic
range. Currently he is working on a private commission in tandem with a new project
which is a large series of portrature; 24 paintings in total presented in dypticth and
tryptich format. Information will be posted when the works are completed. |
